Summary

LocalScribe is built so that your audio and transcripts stay on your Mac. The app does not send your recordings to our servers for transcription, and we do not operate a cloud transcription service for this product.

Who this policy covers

This policy describes the LocalScribe macOS application distributed on the Mac App Store. Developer: Juan Carlos Guzman R.

What happens to your audio and files

• Audio and video you open in LocalScribe are processed on-device using a locally stored speech model (OpenAI Whisper via WhisperKit on Apple Silicon).
• That content is not uploaded to us for transcription. It is not used to train models for us.
• Files remain under your control on your Mac, subject to where you save exports or enable auto-save.

Data we collect

We do not collect personal data through LocalScribe for analytics, advertising, or account purposes. The app does not require an account.

If you add third-party services in a future version, update this policy and the App Store App Privacy section before release.

• No analytics SDKs that identify you
• No crash reporting or usage tracking implemented by us in the product as described here
• No sale of personal information

Network activity

Model download: On first use (or when you add a model), LocalScribe downloads model files over the internet. That request fetches model weights, not your audio. Your transcripts and recordings are not part of that download.

After the model is present on disk, core transcription can run without an internet connection.

Other traffic: Aside from what the operating system or Mac App Store may do independently (updates, receipts, etc.), LocalScribe does not add cloud transcription calls as part of its core design.

Permissions

• Microphone: Only if you use in-app recording. You can revoke this in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
• Files / folders: Used when you choose files to transcribe or pick an auto-save folder. Access follows macOS sandbox and security-scoped bookmark rules.

Children’s privacy

LocalScribe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when the app or legal requirements change. Material changes should also be reflected in App Store Connect where required.
